21,000 DC youth will be without a summer job on July 31st unless the City Council approves emergency funding to pay for the final four weeks of SYEP. Demand City Council pass emergency funding to Save Our Summer!!

10 Reasons Why DCPS Students Should Join YEA

This is for everyone who’s ever complained about their school’s environment. For anyone who’s wanted to see some type of improvement in the basic problems that go on in their schools and that never change. YEA (Youth Education Alliance) is a youth-led group of teens and young adults who empower change. They are known to bring youth together to identify problems in their schools and solve them the best way possible. Many people don’t take time out to give organizations like this enough recognition but I hope those of you who read this blog will see that this group is not just “another one of those groups.”  It might be the change that you’ve been waiting for.

Stop Counselor Overload

Guidance counselors are essential to students. They play a major role in deciding a student's future. Guidance counselors are supposed to be there to counsel students. They are also supposed to be there to help students get their credits straight so that they may be able to attend college. However, this does not always happen.
