Save Our Summer (S.O.S.)

Dear Council Members Gray, Barry and Thomas:

Without the SYEP, 21,000 youth will be out of work!  The Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) is vital to the youth of this city. 

SYEP provides jobs to thousands of Washington, D.C. youth and adults.  Youth gain professional development, make friends, earn money and have positive summer experiences.  Research also shows that youth employment lowers teen drug addiction, pregnancy and crime rates.  Teen unemployment in the District already reached 23% this June--we can't afford for it to rise any higher!

Please approve emergency funding to pay for the final four weeks of the Summer Youth Employment Program!
